Luxury vinyl flooring offers style without sacrificing savings

If you haven't seen this vinyl yet, your eyes are in for a treat. Amazingly realistic wood, stone, and tile images are taken with high-definition photography; they're clear and accurate with knots, grains, growth rings, veining variations, vivid colors, and bold patterns. Micro beveling and embossing add depth, dimension, and textured looks, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed.  As an added design option, and to add even more to the realism, luxury vinyl flooring can be cut into planks called vinyl plank flooring (or LVP). Square, tile-sized pieces that can be used with or without grout are called LVT flooring. This is an ideal option for those who want a hardwood look in a wet area like the bathroom.

Waterproof durability for kids, pets, heavy foot traffic

While all vinyl is strong, luxury vinyl flooring is five times thicker than the original product. It's also layered and, at the top, is a clear, strong melamine coating that protects the floor from scratches and scuffs. On top of that is a clear urethane finish that adds extra shine and strength. It's also 100% waterproof and can be submerged or spilled on; wipe dry, and it can be reused.

Other benefits include low maintenance, only requiring a regular (daily, if possible) sweeping and a periodic mopping with a manufacturer-approved cleaner. Avoid waxy, shine-promoting cleaners as they can damage the floor and dull it. If you think you need more shine, seek the advice of a professional.

Installers love LVP and LVT flooring because it's fast and easy, and you'll love it because it's an inexpensive installation. While this product can be glued (nailed isn't recommended), it is often installed by the floating floor technique. Without adhesives, the pieces click together to mat and "float" over the subfloor.
